Men's tuxedos: what Black Tie requires
If the invitation says ‘Black Tie’ or, in German, ‘Abendgarderobe’, a tuxedo is meant. The dress code takes its name from the black silk bow tie that belongs with the tuxedo. For daytime occasions, the equivalent is the morning coat; for ‘White Tie’, it is the tailcoat. The white Dinner Jacket also belongs to Black Tie.
The tuxedo at John Crocket
A tuxedo is recognisable by its silk-faced lapels and by the braid, the silk stripe down the trousers. Our tuxedo jacket is a one-button jacket, and both jacket and trousers are made of Super 100s pure new wool. With it go the white dress shirt with piqué front and double cuffs, the black silk bow tie, either self-tie or pre-tied, the silk cummerbund and cufflinks for the double cuffs. On the feet, black shoes without perforations, such as a Plain Oxford in high-gloss leather.
