Lambswool

FAQ

How does lambswool fit at John Crocket?
Our lambswool styles have a relaxed cut and tend to come up large. If you are between two sizes or prefer a slimmer fit, the smaller size often makes sense.
What does "saddle shoulder" mean on jumpers?
With a saddle shoulder, the seam runs diagonally from the neck across the shoulder and is therefore visible from the front. It allows more room and thus also looks a little more relaxed.
Is lambswool scratchy?
Lambswool is generally heartier than Geelong and noticeably more rustic than cashmere. Our lambswool, however, is comparatively fine for lambswool and is considered pleasant to wear by many customers – especially over a shirt or T-shirt. Very sensitive skin is better served by Geelong or cashmere.
What is lambswool best suited for?
It is a true all-round layering material: from leisure and travel to smart casual. Lambswool looks particularly harmonious with a shirt, flannel trousers or corduroy – and, of course, as a partner to tweed.
How do I care for lambswool properly so it stays looking good for a long time?
Knitwear benefits from airing, and from washing after several wears so the fibres draw back together. Wash only when needed and according to the care label (wool cycle/hand wash), use a little wool detergent and dry flat. This keeps the garment in shape and lets it serve you over many seasons.
What is the difference between lambswool, Geelong and cashmere?
In short: lambswool is the most robust and heartiest quality, Geelong is finer and softer, and cashmere is more luxurious still in handle and warmth-to-weight ratio. Which quality is ideal depends on skin sensitivity, intended use and the look you want.
How quickly is delivery if something is not in stock?
If an item is in stock in Cologne, it can be delivered straight away. If the size or colour has to be reordered, it comes directly from Scotland – in that case allow approximately 10–14 days' delivery time from the order. You can see the status transparently from the stock level in the shop.
