Cotton socks for the suit and soft cashmere socks

At John Crocket you will find two very different kinds of men's socks: classic socks in mercerised cotton for the suit and dress shoe, and soft, warming cashmere socks for cold days.

The cotton socks in fil d'Écosse are knitted from mercerised yarn. This gives the thread a subtle sheen and a smooth, shape-retaining surface. With their fine ribbed texture they sit elastically on the foot and are the right choice with a suit, chinos and dress shoes.

The cashmere socks are 85% cashmere and 15% nylon. The nylon content makes them more durable; the cashmere keeps you warm and lies softly on the skin. These are not thin, fine dress socks but warming socks for winter and cooler evenings.

Care for the cashmere socks like the rest of our knitwear: wash after a few days of wear, by hand or in the wool programme at a maximum of 30 degrees with a little liquid wool detergent, then dry flat and keep out of the dryer. Pilling is normal for cashmere and decreases with regular washing. The cotton socks are less demanding to care for.

FAQ

Which socks go with a suit and dress shoes?
The cotton socks in Fil d'Écosse. They are classically ribbed, hold their shape and are made for suits and dress shoes. The cashmere socks are not intended for this; they keep you warm, but they are not thin dress socks.
What is Fil d'Écosse?
Fil d'Écosse refers to mercerised cotton. Mercerisation gives the yarn a subtle sheen, a smooth feel and excellent shape retention. The socks are knitted in a ribbed weave and sit elastically on the foot.
How do I care for cashmere socks properly?
Wash after a few wears, by hand at a maximum of 30 degrees or on the wool programme with no more than 600 rpm and a little liquid wool detergent. Too much detergent will cause the wool to felt. Dry flat on a towel, never in the tumble dryer. Pilling is normal with cashmere and can be reduced through regular washing.
Can I view the socks before buying?
Yes. At the John Crocket shop on Friesenstraße in Cologne, you can view the socks and receive personal advice.
