Men's knitwear from Scotland

The knitwear at John Crocket is made in a family-run knitting mill in Scotland, from three yarn qualities: lambswool and Geelong from the English spinner Hinchliffe, and cashmere from Todd & Duncan. The range spans jumpers, cardigans and knitted waistcoats through to knitted accessories.

Lambswool is the robust, shape-retaining base. Geelong is a particularly fine merino wool, softer than lambswool and more durable than cashmere. Cashmere comes in several weights, from 2-ply for fine jumpers to 6-ply for cable patterns. Knitwear is best washed after about three days of wear, by hand at a maximum of 30 degrees or in the wool programme with a low spin and liquid wool detergent. Then dry flat on a towel, never in the dryer. Pilling is normal for wool and cashmere; regular washing lets the fibres contract again and prevents it.

Thanks to the tightly twisted yarn, the knitwear holds its shape and does not stretch out in normal use. In our store on Friesenstraße in Cologne, lambswool, Geelong and cashmere each feel distinctly different to the touch, something that can only be described online.
