What are Goodyear-welted shoes?

Goodyear-welted shoes are made in an elaborate process in which the upper, insole and outsole are joined by a seam running around a narrow strip of leather (the welt). The result: a shoe that can be resoled and gains character over the years instead of falling apart.

The shoes are made of smooth leather, suede or Scotch grain, each with a stitched welt. For soles you can choose between leather soles, part-rubber soles and full rubber soles.
